Sarah Butz is a marketing professional with expertise in the foodservice and CPG industries. She leads the marketing department at Novick Brothers Corporation and in her spare time, this entrepreneur helps independent restaurateurs with their marketing through Chef's Palette Marketing & Design.

Sarah has six years of experience in marketing. She excelled in companies such as the Campbell Soup World Headquarters for IRI, McCormick Spices in their Flavors and Foodservice divisions and AVI Foodsystems. She also spent ten years working with non-profit organizations like the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis International.

Sarah developed an appreciation for marketing in her years of leadership in the non-profit sector. She was elected to international leadership roles in the Kiwanis sponsored programs of Key Club and Circle K. Her project management and organizational skills grew as she traveled weekly across Pennsylvania and the US to facilitate conferences, present workshops, train officers, and serve on strategic planning committees for the organization.

Sarah enjoys the versatility of marketing. It is creative, but also concerned with anticipating customers’ future needs and wants through market research.* Marketing is strategic (against competition) AND operational (determining marketing mix). The essentials include branding, communications, strategic management and market research. Sarah believes a company's marketing should be integrated into all facets of a business, from recruitment through operations and sales, etc.

Sarah's interest in food and beverage stems from her love of restaurants, cooking at home, and hospitality. It is no surprise that credibility is a challenge for services marketers in the foodservice industry. Given the lifestyle commitments restaurateurs and chefs make to their jobs, many marketers spend time in operations at the beginning of their careers to strengthen their position as a resource. In culinary school, Sarah embraced the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of food preparation, recipe development and execution, menu planning, and cost control while indulging and refining her passion for food, wine and the art of presentation.
